Reaction to the presence of manUnconscious selection and habituation in captivity has resulted in loosing their fright for humans. The animals habituated to humans certainly will be more susceptible to illegal hunting and troubles with local people when released. In the groups where the horses have to rely on themselves completely for food, they learn to keep more distance from man in the semi-reserves. The young animals born in the semi-reserves do better, although individual differences can be seen. Przewalski horses, which are too tame cannot be released. |
