Poraqueiba sp. • Mari

In Brazil, at least two species are referred to as Mari, or Umarí: Poraqueiba paraensis, which originates in the Eastern Amazon and Poraqueiba sericea, originating in the Western Amazon (1). The fruits of Poraqueiba paraensis are oblong and elliptical, and the pulp can contain a good percentage of edible oil, similar to the almond (1).
